SO YOU’RE NEW TO YOGA? PERFECT.

Just remember…. Yoga is for every-body, Loons, Cuckoos, and Dodos alike!

The saying I hear from way too many people is, “I can’t do yoga. I’m not even flexible enough to touch my toes!”

To that, I say two things:

One…. Is it your body that is not flexible enough, or is it your brain that isn’t flexible?

and

Two…… “Saying I’m not flexible enough for yoga, is like saying I’m not clean enough to take a shower.”

Preparations for yoga class:

  1. Try not to eat too much, less than an hour before class. If you need too, eat something small that will keep you going through class, like an egg, a small salad, a snickers, or a Slim Jim. Save the quarter pounder with fries and a shake until after class. Note: If you are on medication, DO NOT take it on an empty stomach and come to class. #rapidheartrate #passingout

  2. Wear clothing that offers a full range of motion. News alert: yoga classes are not filled with tanned, toned, twenty somethings, in sexy/skimpy tight outfits. Wear what you are comfortable in, but watch that the clothing is not too baggy, otherwise your shirt might fall over your head when you bend over. Shorts and a tee work just fine.

  3. Bring a yoga mat (if you have one… if not, we’ll let you borrow one once or twice.), a container of room temperature or cool water (if you tend to run thirsty), maybe a hand towel (if you’re a sweater), and some dough (lots and lots of cash).

  4. Finally… If you are self conscious about looks, weight, flexibility, strength, balance, or anything else, just know… so is everybody else. That’s why we practice. That’s what we’re here for. We work to be the most perfect version of our imperfect selves.

  5. Try to arrive 10 to 15 minutes prior to the class time, so you have time to check in and slow your pace before you practice. (living a rushed life will keep you up at night.)

  6. Let’sPractice.
