H - HEAL: gentle, deeper stretching, on back or sitting.
G - GROW: learn postures and flow, standing too.
F - FLY: flow, move, sweat.
GENTLE : low mobility, no knowledge necessary.
LEVEL 1 : some mobility, no knowledge necessary.
LEVEL 1-2 : good mobility, some knowledge of postures recommended.
LEVEL 1-2+ : good mobility, good energy, knowledge of postures and flow.
YIN YOGA : generally a resting yoga with deep stretching, poses are held for 2 to 5 minutes. these stretches will access the muscles, joints, tendons, and bones.
ASHTANGA YOGA : created by K. Pattahbi Jois, in the 20th century, a modern-day form of classical Indian yoga. Synchronizing breath and movement. A set series of individual postures linked by flowing movements. Heat building. No knowledge of Ashtanga necessary. Will feel somewhat like a regular flow class. This is what Chris practices in his own time, and much of the other flows at The Roost are based in Ashtanga with some “current day” vinyasa postures mixed in.
(Similar to Level 1-2 and Level 1-2+)
NOTE:
No need to sign up, just show up!
All classes will offer modifications and props if necessary. We understand that certain people can only come on certain days. Most classes will have different (physical) levels of people in them. Remember, we’re not here to perform. We’re here to do our best. If our best means resting at times, or lying on our back and just breathing deeply throughout a whole class, that is fine too. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please do not hesitate to call.
